Azerbaijan cuts oil export in 2011

The SOCAR Marketing & Economic Operations Department has announced that Azeri oil export in 2011 dropped by 14.7% against its volume in 2010 when it grew by 8.3%.

The Department reports that in 2011 it was exported 27.609 million tons of oil against 32.35 million tons in 2010 and 29.865 million tons in 2009. In December export totaled 1.96 million against 1.988 million tons in November, 2.455 million tons in October, 2.5 million tons in September, 1.89 million in August, 2.38 million tons in July, 2.57 million in June, 2.358 million in May, 2.47 million tons in April, 2.557 million tons in March, 2.28 million tons in February and 2.08 million tons in January.

For 2011 the SOCAR exported 22.969 million tons of oil via Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline (BTC) against 27.27 million tons in 2010 and 24.59 million in 2009, 1.99 million tons via Baku-Novorossiysk versus 2.24 million tons and 2.479 million tons, 2.65 million tons via Baku-Supsa versus 2.839 million tons and 2.792 million tons respectively.

Oil was not exported via Baku-Batumi railway in 2011, as well as in 2009 and 2010.
SOCAR says that the MEOD exports both its own oil and oil falling on the share of the government within PSA contracts.
