Water spout hits land in North Carolina - VIDEO

A massive column of water rises up off the coast of North Carolina before hitting land as a tornado.

In videos posted online beach goers at first seem entertained by the natural phenomena as a tall column of water rises up about a mile off Carolina Beach in the American state of North Carolina.

But people begin to panic as it hits landfall and becomes a tornado picking up towels and beach umbrellas as it makes its way inland.

The tornado blew itself out a quarter of a mile from the coast and there was very little damage and no injures according to local officials.
