The workshop devoted to Azerbaijan was held at Stanford University which is one of the US’ leading educational establishments situated in California, Azerbaijan’s General Consulate in Los-Angeles said.
Professor of the university Gail Lapidus and Consul General Elin Suleymanov attended the discussions on the situation in the region. In his speech Professor Lapidus called Azerbaijan an important country on the basis of US’ national interests and expressed his regret for Washington’s lack of attention to the South Caucasus.
Consul General Suleymanov informed the participants about Azerbaijani statehood, that the first democratic republic in Muslim East was established in Azerbaijan. The diplomat also touched on the 20 January events, US’ policy in the region, and Azerbaijan’s energy policy.
