The Assembly of Azerbaijani Canadian Organizations (AACO) has condemned Armenian president Serge Sargsyan`s race supremacy statement.
The Assembly says in its statement that “AACO is deeply concerned by recent statement of the president of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan. The Armenian president referring to the results of some “genetic” study stated that “as a nation Armenia has been around for the last 8000 years”.
Further his rhetoric was directed against Azerbaijan and was in line with current expansionist policy of the Republic of Armenia. It is not the first time when Armenian high officials make statement on supremacy of the Armenian people over Azerbaijanis and others in the region; some of them even suggested that Azerbaijan as a young nation has no right to inhabit its current territories.”
According to the AACO`s statement, “it is well-known what dire consequences Europe and the humanity had suffered as a result of “genetics” and such kind of “studies” about 60 years ago. President Sargsyan, as his predecessor Robert Kocharyan who made notorious comments about ‘the incompatibility of the Azerbaijani and Armenian peoples’, continues to use the extreme language of racism, supremacy and hatred”.
The Assembly of Azerbaijani Canadian Organizations calls on the Government of Canada, which had made a significant contribution to the fight against Nazism, to condemn statements of the Armenian president and urge the Government of Armenia to comply with the norms of international law and denounce the Armenian policy of annexation.
