A ceremony of laying the foundation of a 65,000-seat stadium near the Azizbeyov metro station will be held in Baku on June 6, AFFA Secretary General Elkhan Mammadov said on Thursday.
Mammadov said laying the foundation of the stadium will be held within the events on the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani football. The ceremony will be attended by the UEFA President Michel Platini and FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter.
"AFFA’s football center will be opened in the Mardakan settlement on June 6," Mammadov said. He stressed a 6,000-seat stadium will also be officially opened in this territory.
The anniversary events will end with a solemn event in "Buta Palace".
Mammadov said in addition to UEFA and FIFA leadership, the event will also be attended by guests from 35 federations, as well as presidents of some UEFA member federations.
"A logo of the Women’s Championship among girls at age of 17 will be held in Azerbaijan in 2012," Mammadov said.
