The first single combat games are underway in Beijing, China.
Beijing games are the first principal international competitions to involve all the main martial and single combat games.
Athletes from all over the globe compete in 13 kinds of martial and single combat games (4 Olympic disciplines and 9 non-Olympic games), such as aikido, boxing, judo, jujitsu, karate, kendo, kickboxing, Thailand boxing – muay-tay, unarmed self-defense, sumo, taekwondo, wrestling and wushu.
Azeri WKF karate fighter Niyazi Aliyev is representing Azerbaijan. European Champion Niyazi (67 kg) beat Japanese Shinji Nagaki, Damyen Dovi from Benin, Greek Dimitris Triantafilis and American Baryan Martel. In a conclusive single combat he won Dimitris Triantafilis again, thus becoming a winner of the tournament in his weight category.
The tournament will last until Sept. 4.
