Members of Azerbaijan Boxing Federation (ABF) have discussed the results of 2024 and the action plan for the next year.
Vice-President of the Azerbaijan Boxing Federatio Vusal Nasirli called 2024 a successful year for Azerbaijani boxing. He highly appreciated the achievement of 160 medals in international competitions in the Olympic year, as well as the silver medal at the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games.
Vusal Nasirli emphasized that expectations from the new year and the Olympics to be held in Los Angeles in 2028 are even greater. He added that the main goal is unchanged and all necessary steps will be taken to win the first gold medal at the next Olympics.
The Federation official noted that the material and technical base will soon be further strengthened, new centers will be opened in the regions, new boxing halls in districts and cities, and certain improvement works will be carried out.
He then introduced the head coach of the men's national team, Ravshan Khojayev, to the team and explained the goals set for the experienced specialist.
The head coach from Uzbekistan, in turn, said that he would work hard for the development of Azerbaijani boxing, using his knowledge and experience to this end.
The national team doctor, Zaur Abdullayev reported on the health status of the boxers and the work done.
The questions of the coach, referees and boxers were also answered at the meeting.

Many times, Azerbaijan has been chosen as the host country for major boxing championships.
The AIBA Youth World Championships were held in Baku in 2019. This world championship was the first licensed youth tournament to qualify for the 2010 Olympic Games held in Singapore.
The country also hosted the 2011 AIBA World Boxing Championships, which was the first major qualifying event for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
