Azerbaijani Paralympic Champion recognized as best para-taekwondo athlete

Azerbaijani Paralympic Champion Imameddin Khalilov has been recognized as the best male para-taekwondo athlete in 2024 by the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF).

Imameddin Khalilov, who has won gold medals at all tournaments he participated in this year, has also secured titles of world and European champion. He is currently the leading athlete in the world rankings.

The award was presented to the para-taekwondo athlete at a gala dinner in Hong Kong.

Paralympic Champion was awarded this title by unanimous decision of the WTF Technical Committee

Recall that Imameddin Khalilov competed at the 2022 European Taekwondo Championships and won a silver medal.

He also won gold medals at 2023 European Para Championships and World Para Taekwondo Championships.

Imameddin Khalilov claimed another gold medal at 2024 European Taekwondo Championships

He was as a flag bearer for Azerbaijan during the 2024 Summer Paralympics Parade of Nations.

He represented Azerbaijan at the 2024 Summer Paralympics and earned a gold medal in the -70 kg category.

By the presidential decree, Imameddin Khalilov was awarded the 1st degree For Service to the Fatherland Order in 2024.
