The United World Wrestling has published a new ranking of the world wrestlers for July.
Nine Azerbaijani wrestlers were also included into the ranking in ten different weight categories, azerisport.com
The best among them is European champion Giorgi Edisherashvili (57 kg), who is second in his weight category. Olympic bronze medalist Jabrayil Hasanov (74 kg) is third, the silver prize-winners of EURO Aleksandr Gostiyev (86 kg) and Jamaladdin Magomedov (125 kg) are the fourth. Aslanbek Alborov (97 kg) is the fifth, while two-time world champion Haji Aliyev (61 kg) -is the sixth.
Mahir Amiraslanov (57 kg) is eighth, Murad Suleymanov (74 kg) is the ninth, and Mahomed Muslimov (65 kg) placed ten.
Wrestling remains the most popular sport in the county and is overseen by the National Wrestling Federation, which was established in 1993.
The Rio Games opened a new page in wrestling for Azerbaijan. The country became one of only two nations ever to increase the number of medals achieved in five consecutive Games.
