Azerbaijani gymnasts eye to win medals at Baku 2017

Azerbaijan’s male artistic gymnastics team intends to make every effort to show good results and win medals at Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games, the team members Murad Agharzayev, Bence Talas and Timur Bairamov said in an interview with Trend.

Agharzayev said that Azerbaijani gymnasts are in good shape and intensively prepare for the Games.

He added that Azerbaijani gymnasts are not scared of strong rivals.

Agharzayev went on to add that he hopes to win at least three medals - in floor exercises, vault jump and team event at the Games. He said that he expects at least one of these medals to be gold.

Bence Talas, in turn, said that during Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games, Azerbaijani gymnasts will perform on 6 apparatuses. He noted that the team performs well on all apparatuses, but he himself performs exercises on horizontal bar and rings best of all.

Another team member, Timur Bairamov, said that he will be performing at the Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games for the first time this year.

He noted that the main task of the Azerbaijani national team’s artistic gymnasts is to show all they can.

The Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games, the opening ceremony of which will take place May 12, started May 8 and will last until May 22 in Azerbaijan’s capital on 16 sports grounds in 20 kinds of sports - 17 Olympic ones and three non-Olympic ones.
