Azerbaijani alpinist currently residing in the U.S., Jamil Khairulin, climbed to Himalayan Island Peak (Imja Tse) with the accompaniment of a sharpa- guide on October 25.

The height of Imja Tse is 6,189 meter above the sea level.

The peak is located close to Everest and Lhotse Mounts in the highland Khumbu region in the territory of Nepal. The Island Peak is the extension of the southern ridge extremity of the giant Lhotse Shar. A huge glacier separates the mountain from the main wall of Lhotse.

Imja Tse is a classical 6000 m highland mostly popular among world climbers.

The final part of the ascent to the peak requires considerable physical effort, as it presents a wall of thick snow height of more than a hundred meters at an angle of 75 degrees, and in some places even more. Luckily, Jamil had amazingly clear weather in the morning, and he was able to take some interesting photos at the peak.

During the expedition, Jamil climbed alone to the Chhukung (5833 meters) and Chhukung-Ri (5550 meters) peaks.
