At a press conference earlier today Xavi Hernández spoke about current goings-on at Barcelona and also gave his view on Real Madrid's potential signing of Gareth Bale: "I don't know if Bale is worth what they say. I genuinely haven't seen him play for 90 minutes".
The possible departure of Cesc Fàbregas to Manchester United is one of the main talking points at Barça. Xavi gave his view on the matter: "He's quite relaxed. He's under contract and everything else is speculation. He's working with the group and is up to speed and very motivated. They're just rumours. We'll see what happens, but he's relaxed and ready for the coming season with Barcelona".
The Barça playmaker then talked about the difficult setback of Tito Vilanova's departure: "Tito's departure was a real blow for the squad, but we have to get over it. It was one of the saddest moments ever for Barça".
The captain of the Catalan side is now looking ahead to life under new manager Gerardo Martino and understanding his vision of the game: "We're still excited. We'll try to adapt to the manager's way of doing things as soon as possible. First impressions have been positive. We have it in us to become winners and despite Tito's sad situation, everything else is going well".
The Spanish midfielder concluded by detailing the objectives outlined by the new Barça coach in the first training sessions: "He likes to work on bringing the ball out of defence, as well as regaining possession and applying more pressure higher up the pitch. He wants to regain the dynamism that we lost last year".
