MANCHESTER CITY have signed Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo to fill the gap left by Carlos Tevez’s departure to Juventus.
The Spain star, 27, will wear the No9 shirt after sealing a deal worth an initial £16.4million — plus add-ons of up to £4.2m.
City chiefs had to fight off stiff competition from Atletico Madrid to secure the deal — which will give boss Manuel Pellegrini a welcome boost after losing out on Isco and Edinson Cavani.
Negredo bagged an impressive 25 goals in 36 La Liga appearances and has been on the radar of Europe’s top clubs for some time.
Fernadinho and Jesus Navas have already arrived at the Etihad this summer as the club look to win back the Premier League title they lost last year.
