The game between Spain and Uruguay was a very special one for Iker Casillas, who had not taken part in an official match since 23 January. Even though it was the 800th match of his career, and his 145th for Spain, to him it felt like he was making his debut.
"It was a surprise. Five months without playing any official games, and it felt like I was making my debut, which in fact happened 13 years ago", he said.
"I am grateful for the confidence Del Bosque has placed in me, and for my team-mates, with whom I've spent so many years bringing joy to the nation - that's the nicest thing", the Spanish captain added.
