€57 million goes out of Barca pocket for Neymar

04 June 2013 [14:45] - TODAY.AZ
Josep María Bartomeu talked at a press conference about the numbers involved in signing Neymar. "It's been worth it." Conversations about signing Neymar began two years ago, in 2011. He cost us €57m and will have a €190m buy-out clause. The deal was reached with all four parties and without intermediaries. We'll play two friendly matches, one in Brazil and another at the Camp Nou," he said.

"Other clubs interfered in his signing, that's why he cost us €57m. Right from the start he said that he wanted to join Barça. Thanks to that the initial fee of €40m only increased to €57m. He's signed for five seasons," Bartomeu said. "One such club was Real Madrid, but there was also another involved. Florentino should know if a deal was going to cost him €150m," he added.

"We never talk about what our players earn. Neymar knows what he earns. We're pleased and I think he is too. He has individual image rights which belong to him," he clarified.

"We have an agreement with Santos, but it has nothing to do with signing Neymar. We can have first refusal if a player is of interest to us. There's no particular player right now, but it'd be great to sign another Santos player in the future. We already have similar agreements with other clubs," he said.
