Azerbaijan,Brazil put pen to paper on sport co-op

Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov is on a visit to Brazil, the press service of the Ministry informed Trend.

Azad Rahimov met with Brazilian Minister of Sports Aldo Rebelo and discussed the current state of bilateral relations in the field of sports, stressing the great potential for cooperation in this field.

The sides also discussed the possibility of participation of children and coaches from various groups and teams in seminars in Brazil in order to develop children's football as well as participation of Azerbaijani youth in the program for volunteer training for the World Championships to be held in 2014 in Brazil.

The meeting resulted in signing of a memorandum on cooperation in sports between the Ministries of Azerbaijan and Brazil.

Azad Rahimov then met with the President of the Paralympic Committee of Brazil Andrew Parsons.

During the meeting the sides discussed prospects of cooperation between the Paralympic Committees of the two countries.

Azad Rahimov gave an interview for TV Brasil Channel, expressing his satisfaction with the development of relations between the two countries.

Touching on the first European Olympic Games to be held in 2015 in Azerbaijan and the Summer Olympic Games to be held in 2016 in Brazil, the Minister also stressed the importance of exchange of experience between the two countries in this field.

Rahimov met with the Deputy Foreign Minister for Sports, Ambassador Hadil da Rocha Vianna.

Vianna said the relations between the two countries have been developing rapidly in recent years.The sides exchanged in-depth views on the prospects of cooperation in the field of youth and sports.

The Minister Youth and Sports also met with the president of the Committee for External Relations of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of Brazil Nelsen Pellegrino and a member of the committee, MP Claudio Kadjado. The meeting focused on bilateral relations as well as the possibilities of cooperation in the field of youth and sports. It was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Brazil Elnur Sultanov.
