The number of industrial accidents in Azerbaijan significantly increased within 10 months of 2011, Deputy Chief of the Labour and Social Protection Ministry's State Labour Inspectorate Service Rauf Tagiyev said. The figure grew by 73 cases compared to last year.
The State Labor Inspectorate Service often holds events jointly with confederation of entrepreneurs in order to prevent such cases. Tagiyev noted that industrial accidents were caused by indifferent attitude of employers toward labor protection, health and safety rules.
“About 300 industrial accidents took place within 10 months of 2011, 83 persons died as a result. Such incidents mostly happen in construction and oil sectors," he added. He stressed that investigations were underway at prosecutor offices in relation to such industrial accidents.
