Divorce rate jumps in Azerbaijan

MP Hadi Rajabli has today stated that the number of divorces has doubled in Azerbaijan in the past 6-7 years. The parliament’s committee on social policy today holds the hearings on “Social legislation: realities and prospects”.

He noted about 90,000 marriages and 8,700 divorces were recorded in the reporting period. Rajabli underlined that one of the main causes of the divorces is property-related issues and added that lack of premarriage certificate causes serious problems.

The representatives of the Ministries of Health, Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Culture and Tourism, and State Fund of Social Protection and state agencies attended the hearings.
