
The Days of Latvia started in Baku, on November 14, Latvian embassy in Baku said. The aim of the campaign is to develop economic and humanitarian relations between Azerbaijan and Latvia.
The organizers of the event are Latvian Agency on Investments and Development, Latvia`s embassy to Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani Investments and Export Promotion Foundation (AzPROMO).
Latvian ambassador Hardys Baumanis and Azerbaijan`s transport minister Ziya Mammadov made speeches. He said conducting of the Independence Day of Latvia in Azerbaijan is a momentous event. Ambassador underlined a visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Latvia gave an impulse to expanding relations between the two countries. Latvia support Azerbaijan`s stand in solution of Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Mr. Baumanis added.
Mr. Mammadov said reciprocal visits of the presidents in 2005-2006 have opened a new page in two countries` relationship. Numerous agreements in the spheres of economy, agriculture, ecology, transport and ICT were signed with Latvia, Minister noted.
Following an official ceremony, Latvian products and fashion were demonstrated.
