Shaped-charge tank and gun projectiles found in mud-volcano areas in Azerbaijan

The unexploded shaped-charge tank and gun projectiles were found during the operations carried out in the territory of mud volcanoes in Garadagh district of Baku, General Operation Expert of the Azerbaijani Agency for Mine Actions (ANAMA) Adil Aslanov said.

According to Aslanov, ANAMA’s Special Operation Group searched 500 000 sq.m area during the operations started in August.

“More than 50 tank and gun projectiles were found and deactivated during the operations. There are shaped-charge anti-tank mines and gun projectiles among them”, ANAMA representative said.

Aslanov said that on at the request of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources search and mine-clearance operations will be held in 2 mln 740 thousand sq.m territory. There was firing range of the Soviet Army in the territory of mud volcanoes. The operations in the territory will continue till August 2012.
