Minister of Culture of Morocco visits Azerbaijan ministry of culture and tourism

A delegation of the Kingdom of Morocco, led by the Culture Minister Ben Salem Himmish, visited Azerbaijan ministry of culture and tourism on Friday. The delegation was received by Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan Adalat Valiyev. Welcoming guests, Valiyev said that cultural ties between the two countries are developing very fast.

The Days of Azerbaijani Culture were conducted in 2008 and 2010 in Morocco. Also the Days of Culture of Morocco were organized in 2009 in Baku, Valiyev said. The Azerbaijani official emphasized that Azerbaijan is a multi-confessional country with a rich history and ancient cultural traditions.

“The first opera in the East was created in Azerbaijan. We have a lot of theaters, a philharmonic hall, symphony and chamber orchestras, etc. Only this year there were organized music, puppet, jazz and other festivals in Azerbaijan,” Valiyev said.

Minister of Culture of the Kingdom of Morocco, Ben Salem Himmish, in turn, unveiled the program of the Days of Moroccan Culture which are due in Baku. According to the minister, the Days will feature performances of Moroccan music and dance groups, photo and painting exhibitions and presentation of the feature films.

The meeting also discussed prospects of development of cultural relations between Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Morocco.
