Azerbaijan’s Shamakhi, Belgium’s Thuin to become brother cities

The Azerbaijani city of Shamakhi and Belgian city of Thuin will be announced brother cities, Azerbaijan-Belgian Interparliamentary Friendship Group Co-Chairman Philippe Blanchard told Trend. Blanchard is now on a visit to the Shamakhi city.

He said the sides already agreed on this issue.

Moreover, Mr. Blanchard said, a monument to the prominent Azerbaijani poet and satirist of the 19th-20th centuries, Mirza Sabir Alakbar, will be established in Belgium by late 2011.
