Reporter arrested in Azerbaijan

A reporter was arrested in Azerbaijan. Press service of the Interior Ministry said that owner of Romi Hotel in Masazir settlement of Absheron region informed them that a person named Huseyn and introduced himself as a reporter of “Unikal” newspaper extorted AZN 1000 from him threatening to publish materials discrediting him. That person was detained while extorting AZN 1000 from the owner of Romi Hotel on October 31, 2011.

According to the preliminary investigation, Huseyn Isgandarov is a reporter of “Unikal” newspaper and he used same method to extort money from the owners of Goyca and Agh hotels.

The investigation is underway to find Isgandarov’s other criminal links and illegal actions.
