Thor Heyerdahl becomes honorary doctor of Western University in Azerbaijan

A ceremony to present honorary doctor diploma to employee of Oslo Kopn-Tiki Museum Thor Heyerdahl was held in Western University here.

Thor Heyerdahl, son of the Norwegian explorer, adventurer, and scientist Thor Heyerdahl, visited Baku to attend the scientific-practice conference called “Thor Heyerdahl and Azerbaijan” held in Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) on Thursday.

Addressing the ceremony, Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Huseyn Bagirov informed participants on father Thor Heyerdahl`s visits to Azerbaijan and his role in the establishment and development of relations between the two countries.

Mr. Bagirov also underlined the importance of son Thor Heyerdalh`s visit to Baku and becoming the honorary doctor of Western University. Thor Heyerdahl expressed his confidence on boosting of cooperation in all spheres between Azerbaijan and Norway.
