UN: 38 maternal mortalities are in Azerbaijan per every 100 000 live births

The UN Population Fund announced its report named “State of world population-2011” in connection with the reaching of world population to 7 billion. The factors which affect health, education, longevity and life quality of people were reflected in the report which covers the main development tendency of planet’s population.

According to the UN, 1.8 billion of world population are youth and teenagers between the ages of 10 and 24.

The report also considers the maternal and child mortality cases.

According to the document, about 33 death cases per 100 live births are in Azerbaijan between the children under age of 5. 38 maternal mortalities are in Azerbaijan per every 100 000 live births. According to the report, 42 of every 1000 birth fall to share of mothers aged 15-19. Though 88% of births in the country attended by skilled health personnel, the other 12% occur domiciliary and without skilled health personnel.

UN experts say that 95-97% of school age children have a chance to get primary and secondary education. Literacy rate is 100%.

As regards the common indicators, the Azerbaijani population is 9.3 mln people, 4.6 mln of them are men, 4.4 mln – women. The urban population is 52%. According to the UN the Azerbaijani population will increase by 1.2% in 2010-2015.
