Iraqi security forces supported by the military helicopters are ensuring security of the caravan of Azerbaijani Hajj pilgrims consisting of 18 buses in this country. Iraqi deputy interior minister headed the security forces.

They will accompany the Hajj pilgrims till the borders of Jordan.

The first group of the pilgrims visited the shrines in Najaf city of Iraq. The second caravan consisting of 26 buses is also in Iraq now.

Hajj pilgrims traveling by planes will leave on October 28-31. Five planes have been allocated for this goal.

2000 Azerbaijani Muslims will be on Hajj pilgrimage in 2011. Bus travel costs AZN 2650 (last year it cost AZN 2500), air travel AZN 3750 (last year it cost AZN 3500).

One of the novelties is that the CMB has changed the route of Azerbaijani pilgrims traveling by bus. Thus, due to the developments in Syria this year, the pilgrims move to Hajj en route Azerbaijan-Iran-Iraq-Jordan-Saudi Arabia.
