“A large monitoring network should be created in the regions of Azerbaijan threatened by the natural disasters. It is necessary.
We have to know about the processes in those areas”, vice president of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Akif Alizadeh said.
He said intensive activation is observed in the Earth crust now. It is necessary to conduct monitoring to make prognosis about the expected developments there. “Azerbaijan is located in the seismogenic zone. Geodynamical activation is observed in the country’s territory. All organizations have to work for minimization of the effects of emergency situations”.
Alizadeh noted that according to the agreements between ANAS and BP, a monitoring network was created along the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline to prevent seismic threat. We reached an agreement with Georgia and Turkey to conduct monitoring in those countries too.
