
Rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan rescued 14 and 17 years old men from the rubble as a result of search-rescue operation conducted together with the Turkish colleagues in Van province of Turkey after the devastating earthquake, the ministry’s website reports.
Note, 7.2-magnitude hit Van province of Turkey on October 23. The epicenter was in 42 km from the city of Van. Aftershocks occurred in Diyarbakir, Batman, Sirnak, Mus, Erzrum, Bingol, Bitlios, Siirt and Mardin cities of Turkey. The quake caused large-scale devastations leaving a number of people under the wrecks.
According to the Republican Seismological Service of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences 3.0-3.5-magnitude quakes were felt in the territory of Azerbaijan too. The quake occurred in Sadarak, Sharur and Babek regions of Nakhchivan Autonomous republic of Azerbaijan.
According to the officials, 265 people were killed and more than 1000 injured in the earthquake in Van, Turkey.
