A new method of studying seismic activity will be used to determine potential earthquake zones in Azerbaijan's neighbouring countries.

The method was developed in Azerbaijan, the head of the seismological and geodynamic study department of the National Seismological Service Center of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences, Dr. Tahir Mammadov said on Wednesday.

Dr. Mammadov said: "Using this method in neighbouring Georgia and Russia using their information, we can determine earthquake-prone zones."

Mammadli said that an article on the method of determining earthquake zones was published in Russia and has been widely acknowledged.

He added: "The article was then translated and sent to Turkey where it will be published and also will be shown to the U.S in the future."
