American Noble Prize winner named honorary doctor of Baku State University

American Noble Prize winner Ahmed Hassan Zewail has been named an honorary doctor of the Baku State University. Ahmed Zewail won the 1999 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on femtochemistry. He is the Linus Pauling Chair Professor of Chemistry and Professor of Physics at the California Institute of Technology.

He has been nominated and will participate in US President Barack Obama's Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), an advisory group of leading US scientists and engineers to advise the President and Vice President and formulate policy in the areas of science, technology, and innovation.

In an award-giving ceremony, Ahmed Zewail received the Diploma of the honorary doctor from rector of the Baku State University Abel Maharramov.
