
Iran’s Cultural week kicked off on Monday in Baku, Azerbaijan republic in presence of both countries officials and artists.
Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini and Azeri Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev were present in the ceremony.
Minister of Culture and Islamic Orientation of Iran Seyed Mohammad Hosseini stressed historical and cultural ties between the two countries and also thanked the Azerbaijani government for attention to this event.
According to Hosseini, holding days of Iranian culture in Azerbaijan for the first time in 20 years is a remarkable fact.
"I think such events will strengthen ties between our states", he said.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev offered to make weeks of culture of Azerbaijan and Iran annual. He voiced the idea during a meeting with the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance of Iran Seyed Mohammad Hosseini. He said that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to relations with Iran.
"Our relations are based on common culture, history and morevalues. These relationships should be developed ", said Garayev.
He noted that Azerbaijan demonstrates much interest in the Week of Iranian Culture which opened in the country. It is noteworthy that Iran's Culture Week will take place not only in Baku but also in Ganja. Additionally, cultural programs will be prepared in Kurdamir and Hajigabul.
Thus, the Azerbaijani public will get directly acquainted with the cultural programs of our Iranian friends”, the minister said.
Garayev recalled his visit to Iran last year as part of the Week of Azerbaijan and said that such activities strengthen relations between the two countries.
Iran’s cultural week is to be held in the cities of Baku and Gigeh and Ganja. In line with an agreement singed between the two countries, Azerbaijan cultural week was held in the cities of Tehran and Tabriz last year.
