German Humboldt University`s Professor Meets Azerbaijan`s Minister of Youth and Sports

A group of tutors and students of the Germany`s Humboldt University headed by Professor Eva Maria Auch, chief of the department of Azerbaijani history, met with the minister of youth and sports of Azerbaijan Azad Rahimov.

Minister Rahimov praised functioning of the chair of Azerbaijan history in Germany, what, according to the Minister, is a pleasant factor, and that glorious history of Azerbaijan which currently is quickly developing with a profound image abroad, is being learned in foreign countries.

In Azerbaijan, the state and government pays special attention to all fields, in particular to the field of youth and sports, the Minister underlined. At his words, currently 66 percent of the population is youth under 35. The Azerbaijani youth gained notable achievements at the international sports contests, and the republic`s capital hosts many world competitions, he said.

Professor Eva Maria Auch said the Germans are deeply interested in Azerbaijan. Especially, after Azerbaijan won at the Eurovision-2011 music contest, this interest has become all-rounded. Many Azeri students study at the Humboldt University, the fact which gives more information.

The department of Azerbaijani history the goal of which is to popularize the history, culture, literature, science of Azerbaijan in Germany and Europe, was opened in 2010, Professor Auch stressed. The professor said she investigates XIX-XX centuries and modern history of Azerbaijan.
