
Foreigners and stateless persons arriving in Azerbaijan Republic under visa or visa-free regime can apply to the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan for extension of temporary staying period at least 7 working days before expiration of staying period in the country.
Temporary staying period of foreigners and stateless persons can be extended in the following cases:
a) Necessity for urgent treatment in Azerbaijan Republic;b) Serious illness or death of close relatives living in Azerbaijan Republic;c) Incompleteness of the intended work connected with official necessity. Validity period of foreigners’ passport or stateless persons’ identification documents should not be less than 3 months, otherwise temporary staying period will not be extended.
Decision on extension of temporary staying period issued by the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan legalizes foreigners and stateless persons’ temporary staying in the country and registration for the place of residence.
Foreigners and stateless persons arriving under visa-free regime and extending their temporary staying period for 90 days (maximum) must leave the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan till the expiration day of this period. Foreigners can return to Azerbaijan Republic only after staying 30 days abroad (except the cases confirming serious illness or death of close relative).
İf the State Migration Service has not extended temporary staying period or has not issued temporary residence permit, a foreigner must leave the country till the expiration of the temporary staying period in Azerbaijan Republic.
The foreigner arriving under visa or visa-free regime and obtaining the decision on extension of temporary staying period can leave the territory of Azerbaijan Republic presenting this decision (during its validity period) together with the valid passport or any other identification document at the border check points.
