14-year-old girl among human traffic victims in Azerbaijan

14-yea-old girl was among the victims of trafficking in human beings in Azerbaijan this year, senior operational officer of the Interior Ministry’s Office for Combat Human Trafficking Araz Babayev said during the conference dedicated to the struggle against trafficking in human beings.

70 facts of human traffic were identified in 2010, but this figure was 63 in the first half of 2011. Most of the victims are women.

Chairwoman of the Fund for Support to Victims of Human Trafficking Mehriban Zeynalova said traffickers choose their victims among the poor, uneducated and weak-willed people. Zeynalova appreciated the government’s support to the victims of human trafficking, giving compensations and sheltering these people as the respect to human rights.
