Large-scale operations carried out in Azerbaijani regions bordering on Russia

Large-scale operations have started in Azerbaijani regions bordering on Russia. The operations are being carried out in north-west regions of Azerbaijan – Gakh, Zagatala, Balaken and north regions Guba, Gusar and Khachmaz. Azerbaijani and Russian law-enforcement bodies are participating in “Border-Shield” operations.

Zagatala residents said that posts were set up in the region. The policemen and armed soldiers of the Interior Troops are checking the cars coming to and leaving the region.

Zagatala region police office confirmed the fact, but did not give detailed information saying the operation is confidential.

Guba region police office said that the operations are carried out in line with the agreement reached by Russia and Azerbaijan.
