"Azerbaijan’s membership in the Executive Board of the WHO Regional Office for Europe means great confidence shown to us

“Azerbaijan hosts the 61st session of the World Health Organization’s Regional Committee for Europe and Azerbaijani delegation chairs the session. It means that the world is aware of the development of Azerbaijan”, Health Minister of Azerbaijan Ogtay Shiraliyev told journalists.

Minister said that the session delegates visited many medical facilities of Azerbaijan within the session: “They had a close intercourse with doctors and patients, witnessed the development of Azerbaijani healthcare system”.

Shiraliyev said that electing Azerbaijan a member of the Executive Board of WHO Regional Office for Europe is a great event: “The Executive Board has 32 members. Our country was in the Executive Board in 2005-2008 and in WHO/Europe’s Standing Committee in 2009-2011. Azerbaijan has been working with the WHO’s leading institutions, it is a great confidence shown to us”. The 62nd session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe will be in Malta on September 10-13, 2011.
