Where in Azerbaijan, pupils mostly evade schools?

The State Statistical Committee (SSC) announced the results of selective statistical survey on “The attendance level in the comprehensive schools”.

The SSC said that the survey, which had a purpose to research the reasons of schoolchildren’s evasion of education, covered 18750 households in the country. 30920 6-17-old children were questioned, 55% of them were boys, 45% - girls. 56.7% of respondents were city residents, 43.3% - village residents.

According to the survey’s result, 2.5% of children, who evaded school, are in the urban area, 2.2% - in rural areas. 57.5% of children who were studying in the comprehensive schools and evaded the education are boys, 42.5% - girls. This indicator in the urban areas was correspondingly 62.6-37.4%, the special weight of boys and girls in the rural areas were approximately equal.

The school evasion cases were recorded mainly among the seniors. 55.3% of them are 15-17, 24.6% - 12-14. 49.8% of pupils didn’t go to school till 1 month, 10,4% - 1-3 months, 11% - 3-6 months, 14.7% - 6 months, 14.1% - 1 year and more.

43.6% of children evaded school because of disease, 13.9% - the non-consent of parents, 7.9% their desire to earn money and create future, 6.4% lack of parents’ opportunities to provide children with school supplies, 28.2% - the other reasons.

92.5% of children who wanted to earn money and create future are boys, 81.9% of children who evaded school because of non-consent of parents are girls. Those who studied in the comprehensive schools ad evaded education because of non-consent of parents and their desire to earn money and create future are the children of 15-17.
