Detachment commander sentenced to 9 years for bribery in Azerbaijan

An officer of the Azerbaijani Army charged with corruption was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment, military court of Terter region said.

Detachment commander of Naftalan-based military unit of the Defense Ministry Elvin Agayev was sentenced for bribery, abuse of power, falsification, misappropriation, insulting, beating and torturing junior servicemen.

The officer’s military rank was also revoked.
