
Criminal proceedings have been launched against military commissioners of Binagadi, Surakhany districts of Baku, Sumgayit city and several other regions of the republic, Military prosecutor Khanlar Veliyev said at the board meeting of the Republic Military Prosecutor’s Office.
He said in accordance with the law on “Combating corruption”, executive order signed on July 28, 2007, by President Ilham Aliyev on confirming “National Strategy on increasing transparency and combating corruption”, under the instructions given by the head of state on January 27, in connection with the fulfillment of the tasks put forward at the Anti-corruption Commission’s meeting chaired by head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev, struggle against corruption was strengthened. This helped to reveal in time the crimes related to embezzlement, squandering, bribery, abuse of power and punish the offenders.
Khanlar Veliyev said Republic Military Prosecutor’s Office launched criminal proceedings on 58 facts of corruption and bribery. As a result of the inspections carried out by the Republic Military Prosecutor’s Office at the military commissariats, criminal proceedings were launched under articles 311.1, 313, 341.1 against military commissioners of Binagadi, Surakhany districts of Baku, Sumgayit city and several other regions of the republic over the groundless exemption from military service, illegal draft deferment and bribery. Investigation is underway.
Military prosecuting authorities ensured the payment of 81 percent of the pecuniary damage caused by the crimes.
