Criminal case launched on one more military commissar in Azerbaijan

A criminal case has been launched on one more employee of the military commissariat in Azerbaijan, the law enforcement bodies said.

According to the information, Deputy Military Commissar of Gabala region, Colonel-Lieutenant Shamil Teymurov is accused of call-up of persons who reached military age, but ineligible for military service.

Republic Military Prosecutor’s Office filed a charge against Teymur on the Criminal Code’s ¹341 (Abusing authority, excess or inactivity of authority).

Gabala region Military Commissar Aydin Namazov confirmed the fact to APA. But he said that Teymurov was innocent, and named the charges filed against him groundless: “the doctor determines whether the draftees are available for military service or not. Shamil Teymurov has no guilt here”.

Basing on the task of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev given on January 27, 2011, the Republic Military Prosecutor’s Office made inspection in several Military Commissariats after the tasks given at the meeting of the Commission on Combating Corruption led by head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev. The corruption facts were also recently revealed in Baku’s Binagadi and Surakhani districts, as well Sumgayit and Ganja Military Commissariats. The military commissars and commissariat employees of some regions were arrested.
