According to him, the leadership of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) was reported for making amendment to the abovementioned map: “May be the separate instructions must be on it in the near future. That map must be redeveloped and approved. We have determined that Shamakhi-Ismayilli, Gabala zone is 10-magnitude zone. In the existing map this area is shown as 9-magnitude zone. Baku is shown in 8-magnitude earthquake zone. Lankaran-Astara zone is noted as 8-magnitude zone, but our researches showed that this territory is in 9-magnitude zone. Ganja zone is also in 9-magnitude zone. In general, the strongest earthquake in Azerbaijan can be expected in Shamakhi-Ismayilli, Gabala zone”.

Mammadli said that the joint researches are conducted with 15 countries of Near and Middle East within “Earthquake Model of the Middle East region” international project: “Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Pakistan and the other countries participate in the project”.
