Azerbaijan doesn’t intend to increase the number of universities, said Minister of Education Misir Mardanov.
He said the World Bank and this kind of organizations recommended to Azerbaijan to increase the number of universities in the country, but Azerbaijan didn’t intend to take this step: “Azerbaijan intends to improve the quality of higher education, but not to increase the number of higher education establishments”.
Minister said there were 36 public and 15 private higher educational institutions in the country. “Currently about 10 000 Azerbaijani students get education abroad and more than 7000 foreigners are studying in the Azerbaijani universities”.
