Azerbaijani Press Council chairman to attend conference

Azerbaijani Press Council Chairman Aflatun Amashov will attend an international conference on enhancing the economic independence of media as a force for democratic and liberal reforms.

The event will be held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on June 23-25, the Press Council said.

The event, which is organized by the Uzbek government, will be addressed by influential media experts from throughout the CIS countries and Europe.

The conference will consider the role and place of media in democratic reforms, the way of media’s joining the modern market relations, discussing the problems in this sphere. Views will be also exchanged on state support for media outlets for their development at the
conference.
