
A workshop on "Ancient cultures of the Northern Caucasus" organized for young archeologists of the CIS countries will be held from August 1 to 31 in Tovuz city, Farhad Guliyev, project manager and deputy department head of the Archeology and Ethnography Institute under the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences, said.
A thematic international archeological expedition to be held within the workshop will bring together young specialists of CIS institutes. The object of these studies include monuments of the late Neolithic period (VII-VI century BC) located in the middle flow of Kur river in Tovuz, the north-west region of Azerbaijan.
The workshop of young archeologists will be held within international humanitarian project "Summer schools of archeologists and restorers: organization of young archeologists and restorers' unit" pioneered by the Intergovernmental Fund of Humanitarian Cooperation of CIS member countries.
The project is timed to the "Year of Historical and Cultural Heritage" of the CIS.
According to Guliyev, a unit of young archeologist and restores is currently being formed. In summer, this unit will participate in archeological and restoration expeditions in eight CIS countries.
