Natural disaster in Azerbaijan’s Ismayilli region, sown areas damaged, roads collapsed

Heavy shower and mud streams from the mountains paralyzed life in 15 villages of Ismayilli region, first deputy head of the region’s executive authority, chairman of the emergency situations commission Rafael Ahmadov said.

As a result of the heavy shower in the mountainous areas of Ismayilli from the evening of June 13 till this morning Garakollu, Ashigbayramli, Kudrmashi, Shukurchu, Yenikend, Kelbend, Girk, Balik, Enishdibli, Talish, Julyan, Talistan, Tirjan, Majakhi, Diyalli villages, about 20 houses have been flooded, fences, roads, about 10 pedestrian and road bridges collapsed. Ismayilli-Majakhi road has been closed.

Villages were left without electricity and communication. Main and inner gas and drinkable water lines have been flooded in the southern villages of the region. Artificial lakes and sown areas have been flooded.

The representatives of the region’s emergency situations commission are considering the appeals of the citizens in the flood-affected villages.
