Some 4 222 unexploded ordnances, 2 antitank and 1 antipersonnel mine disarmed in Azerbaijan last month

2 238 519 sq m area was cleared off mines and unexploded ordnances (UXO) in Azerbaijan in May this year, press service of Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) said.

4 222 UXOs and 2 antitank mine/ 1 antipersonnel mine were disarmed. No mine/UXO incident was recorded last month.

480 specialists and 120 assistants, 6 mine clearing vehicle and 32 mine dogs participated in the operations.

162 769 632 sq m area of Azerbaijan has been cleared off mines and UXOs by ANAMA up to now. 659 259 mines and UXOs have been disarmed.

The agency is carrying out mine clearing operations in Aghdam, Aghjabadi, Berde, Fuzuli, Terter, at the same time in Saloglu village of Aghstafa region, Guzdek settlement of Garadagh district of Baku.
