Azerbaijani border guards arrest 112 criminals wanted by police

The Azerbaijani border guards detained 112 people who were wanted by the police in May, the Azerbaijani State Border Service reported. The detainees were transferred to the law enforcement agencies.

The border guards prevented 40 violations of the state border and arrested 75 people.

Of the criminals, 57 are citizens of Azerbaijan, four- Iran, four-Pakistan and others- Hungary, Bangladesh, Russia, Uzbekistan, Moldova and Nigeria.

Some 54 persons were arrested in 28 cases. The appropriate measures were taken.

The officers arrested 31 people in 10 cases for violating the border regime and 23 people in 13 cases for violating the regime in the coastal are of the Caspian Sea. Appropriate measures were taken.

The border guards also seized 720 grams of narcotic substances in 6 cases of trafficking and confiscated contraband worth 71,400 manat in 74 cases of smuggling.
