It is said that in a year, utilization of transport facilities below ecological standard Euro-2 will be restricted in the center of Baku. This issue was clarified by deputy department head of transport policy and economy of the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry Sadraddin Mammadov.
"Such restriction during a year is not a topic of attention yet. We don't have such plans. This information doesn't meet any reality. Currently, we are involved in launching intellectual transport systems as soon as possible", Mammadov said.
According to him, the Transport Ministry is engaged in developing a plan regarding the erection of nine-storey underground parking stations in Baku.
"Nowadays, drivers park their cars in the second row of the road which hampers the move of passenger buses and other individual transport facilities. Moreover, number of transport facilities increases dramatically every year. I believe that such parking lots can facilitate the traffic movement", he said.
Mammadov said that this issue is currently under consideration of the Cabinet of Ministers. If approved, such stations will be erected in over 100 places in the center of Baku.
"The capital has enough places for such stations. Instead of parking cars on roadsides, it would be better and more convenient to do it in underground parking stations", he said.
Besides, department head of the public relations of the Baku Main Road Police Office Vagif Asadov said that he had not received any information in this regard.
"I don’t believe this information is true since I haven’t been informed of it. The traffic restriction in the city center relates only to large vehicles. For such vehicles, traffic in the center allowed from 8 p.m till 8 a.m with special driving permission", Asadov added.
