Azerbaijan to begin inspections to issue licenses to three channels

The Azerbaijani National Council for Radio and Television (NTRC will begin inspections issue licenses to three channels in August, NTRC member Gafar Jabiyev said.

He said in August-September, the Council will consider granting licenses to cable television "Neptun", Radio Antenn and Sumgayit channel "Dunya".

Changes are expected in the amount of the state fee to obtain licenses, Jabiyev said. "The Council has sent a proposal to the corresponding structures to change the amount of state fees paid by the republican and regional broadcasters, television and radio broadcasters, radio-television broadcasters and cable television broadcasters," Jabiyev said.

TV and radio channels operating in the country pay state fee in the amount of 11,000 manat.
Television and radio broadcasting is carried out in the territory of Azerbaijan based on a special agreement (license) in accordance with the law "On Television and Radio Broadcasting". Special permission is granted for a period of six months.

There are 8 republic-wide, 14 regional, 13 cable TV channels in Azerbaijan.
