Azerbaijan says economically active population reaches 4.6 million

As at May 1, 2011, Azerbaijan’s economically active population reached 4,591.1thousand, of which 4,334.6 thousand are employed in different spheres of economy and social sectors, said the State Statistical Committee.

The SSC says the list number of the hired workers was 1,362.1 thousands including average list number was 1,345.5 thousands which 850,900 were in state sector, 494,600 in non-state sector. At the same time, 36,700 persons were in oil sector, 1,308.8 thousand in non-oil sector, 1,307.2 thousand in no-agriculture sector.

Employment agencies listed 39,900 people as jobless, of which 43.2% were women.
